Readee and Reading Eggs
One row per fact. Reading Eggs's column comes from its own pages, each cell dated; where its pages say nothing on a row, the cell says so.

| Finds your child's specific gap | Yes. A spoken 10-minute placement, then a written report naming the skills to work on and the first lesson to start. | A Placement Test when a child first enters My Lessons: it "assesses their existing reading abilities and places them at the correct level in the program", covering "letter and word recognition to vocabulary knowledge and comprehension", and "ends once your child answers three questions incorrectly". Our take
If your child is behind and you want to know why before you spend anything, start with Readee's free check; the report tells you what to work on this week. If you want a large game library for several children across a wide age range, with math in the same subscription, Reading Eggs is the bigger product.
Who each one suits
Reading Eggs suits a family with several children across a wide age range, or one that wants math and reading in one subscription; it has been sold since 2008 and has native apps. Readee suits a family with one child in kindergarten to 4th grade who wants a spoken placement, a report a parent can read, and lessons written by one working teacher.
Readee is newer (2026), has a smaller library, covers reading only, runs on the web only, and allows one child per account.
- The Reading Eggs pricing page also shows a sign-up panel reading "Free for 30 days and only US$9.99/month after", which differs from the $13.99 monthly plan listed on the same page.
